Your child is our center of attention
KiddieLand is a privately owned bilingual childcare with four mixed age groups. We welcome children from four months until kindergarten age. We have three groups with maximum 11 children and one group of maximum 16 children per day. The fully qualified teachers and their assistants provide a safe environment, where your child is their center of attention. Our age appropriate curriculum is designed to teach English and Swiss/High German through play, hands-on activities and active involvement.
Research studies “also show that learning a second language at an early age has a positive effect on intellectual growth and leaves students with more flexibility in thinking, greater sensitivity to language, and improved listening skills.” (PBS Teachers) For maximum flexibility for the parents, we are open the entire year, except Zurich official holidays and between Christmas and New Year. From August 2015, we will close the facility for a week for Teachers` Preparation Time and Workshops. Please find our letter to the parents here.
Philosophy of Education
Curriculum
Our program is planned to encourage curiosity, exploration and problem solving, in an atmosphere of warmth, affection and respect for each child. We offer a program that meets the international norms, but also complies with the local standards, being aligned with kibesuisse – The Swiss Childcare Association. http://www.kibesuisse.ch/ We consider that the learning environment is a major part of the curriculum and various materials are continually added to keep children interested. Our educators are always focused on children’s interests and needs. They are at the child’s eye level as much as possible and respect each child’s individual learning pace. They also act as observers in order to develop each child’s unique personality.
Multicultural Education
At KiddieLand our little students are involved in activities that promote their individual and unique heritage and culture. Our educators make efforts to increase children’s ability to function cross-culturally, developing an open-minded attitude.
Language Immersion
Each group has two teachers: one German and one English speaker. They both work together with their assistant and offer interesting activities in which the children learn naturally both languages. Swiss German is also encouraged, as most of our interns are from Switzerland.
